Garden of the Sahaba had its 6 Annual Sports Day on May 18, 2010. MashaAllah!! It was a day filled with fun, sun and lots of laughs. GSA students and faculty brought new meaning to “fun in the sun”. Students played soccer, basketball, kickball and so many more sports with such enthusiasm and vigor. GSA Pre-K -1 grade enjoyed a day of fun at the school while the 2-8 grade participated in sports day at Woodlands Park.
Pre-K -1 grade hopped around for the three-legged race and created beautiful arts and crafts with their teachers. They also enjoyed silly moments – teachers falling while attempting to race in a sack. The kids didn’t mind the heat because it was so much fun!!!
The students at Woodlands Park enjoyed many sports and water activities. Students raced with buckets of water on their heads and tug of war with danger of falling in a pool of water!!! The students were soaked and they loved it!!! It was a great relief from the heat!!!!
The highlight of the day was the competition between the students and the teachers. The middle school boys played soccer against male parents and staff and MashaAllah the men dominated the game!! They won 5-2!!! Way to go!!!
However, the best and the most awesome victory of the day belongs to the female parents and staff versus middle school girls in kickball!!!! The teachers blew the minds of the girls with their skillful techniques (homeruns, base stealing and marvelous catches). The teachers proved that they are the “Queens” of kickball. Teachers won 10-2!!!!!!!!!
Al-Hamdillah all participants had a wonderful time of physical activity and good old fashioned bonding. Sports Day was a great success!!!!
We had a blessed day of fun thanks to Allah (SWT) first and of course our marvelous and dedicated coordinator Sister Sarah!!! We love you thanks for all the fun and oh yes the sweet, tasty watermelon.
